ABOUT MSC
Metro Stage Company (MSC) was founded in 2004 with a mission to bridge the gap between professional and community
theater, creating opportunities for respected professionals, emerging talent and audiences of all means to experience
high quality theater, while supporting the greater community.  MSC produces new and classic theater with a diverse group
of New England ’s finest performers, while contributing to the community by raising awareness and funds for local
charities.  Since its inception, MSC has made serving the local community a core value.  Local community groups and the
residents of the Cambridge YMCA, MSC’s performance venue, are invited to attend dress rehearsals of MSC productions
for free.  In addition, for the last three years Metro Stage has held an annual benefit show, Heart and Music, with half of the
profits being donated to a designated local charity.  In the 2009-2010 season, MSC will contribute a portion of its Heart and
Music benefit to Community Servings, a Boston organization cooking and delivering free lunches and dinners to
individuals and families who are homebound with acute or life-threatening illnesses.

The 2009-2010 season includes Sweeney Todd by Hugh Wheeler and Stephen Sondheim, The 25th Annual Putnam
County Spelling Bee by Rachel Sheinkin and William Finn, the annual Heart and Music benefit and eight solo concerts by
local performers.  In its first five years, Metro Stage has produced 10 full musical productions and three benefit productions
for a total audience of 3,462 at the Cambridge Family YMCA.  MSC productions have employed 155 local area production
staff, 195 actors, and 60 musicians.

Metro Stage Company will focus its performances at the Cambridge Family YMCA Theatre in Central Square.

Vision Statement
Metro Stage Company seeks to create high quality, exciting, and thought provoking theatrical presentations as a way to
broaden minds and bring together people of all diversities.  We will reach out to as many people as possible in an effort to
enrich lives, cross boundaries, build bridges and deepen our roots. We will engage in community building through the
performance arts, by creating opportunities for artists, arts appreciators, art supporters and volunteers, thereby contributing
to the cultural diversity and vitality of Cambridge and the greater community.

We will strive to provide an opportunity for respected professionals, as well as new and emerging talent to become involved
in quality theatrical productions, establishing a model that bridges the gap between professional and community theatre.
Our Board of Directors will provide professional expertise, oversee the activities of Metro Stage Company, and provide
sufficient resources to help us achieve our goals.

We recognize the importance of practicing generosity, and we will make our performances accessible to those who are
underserved through affordable ticket prices and community outreach.  We will continue to raise awareness and funds for
local charities that benefit Massachusetts and New England citizens, as a way of sharing with those who are at a
disadvantage.

We will continue to indulge ourselves in dreams that support and nurture our vision of a thriving theatre company whose
roots grow deeper every year.  And each time we open our doors, we will do so at risk of acquiring a larger community of
artists and art lovers who empowered by their own dreaming and their own creativity will become part of the lifeblood of
Metro Stage Company and the deeper expression of what we, as humans, feel.
